Although my career has been largely defined by my documentary-driven photographic work, Ideas of image appropriation, art historical referencing, and narrative making through collage have long been at the heart of my artistic practice. Collage has provided a certain creative freedom, and it has provided opportunity to explore symbolism and metaphor, humor and irony, subversiveness and ambiguity not usually attainable in the stricter confines of documentary and photojournalism.
